Thursday Thinking #10

This is a weekly series that I hope you will take part in. Basically, I will ask a question, you answer. Easy-peasy. ūüėČ Sometimes the questions will be very simple and easy to answer in one word. Other times they may be more controversial and require a bit thought on your part.

Ready?

What is stashed under your bed?

One lone pair of slippers. And they are not even mine. I’m kinda weird that way, I don’t like things under my bed. Too hard to see if anything/one is hiding under there. ūüėČ

Yes or No?

Do you like me? Circle one!
Yes
No

Did you ever get a note like this in school? No middle ground there. Either you mark yes or no.

In the grown up world, there is gray. There is compromise. The best relationships thrive on compromise. You want this. I want that. We meet in the middle. We take turns. We each give a little. My husband and I have been blessed with almost 12 years of practice at compromise. We do it well.

Your turn, my turn, let’s meet in the middle.

Am I always happy? No.
Is he always happy? No.

But we usually are. And we are solid.

That’s why I am at a loss right now. For the first time in our relationship, we have reached a stalemate.

We are on opposite sides of an issue. A big issue. There is no middle ground in this one. There is yes and no. Either answer is huge and possibly life changing. There is no compromise.

Magic 8 Ball?

Rock, Paper, Scissors?

Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum, in a jar?

Have you ever been in a stalemate with your partner? A big one? How did you work through it?

~~~Edited to add: This is not a make or break issue for hubs and I. WE are fine. :) There is just a big decision that needs to be made and we can’t seem to get on the same page.
Saving pennies.
Today, as I was in the shower, I started to reach for my shampoo, I stopped myself remembering that it was not my shampoo day.
Huh?
Let me explain. ūüėČ
Financially, things are always tight around here. I think that is becoming a common theme in many households.
I have made some small adjustments lately to stretch our budget just that tiny bit further. Some are actually a bit silly, and really may not save us a whole lot of money, but I feel better doing them. A couple of mine are:
I have a favorite shampoo and conditioner, and I can’t imagine not using them. But….they cost an ever-loving¬†fortune. I have started only washing and conditioning my hair every 3rd day. The way I look at it, my shampoo and¬†conditioner¬†cost $40 and I used to use a bottle a month. So, that was $480/year! By¬†using¬†every 3rd day, I can save about $320 a year, and still get to use my favorites.
I have stopped wearing socks inside as often. We live in military housing. And while this is by far the nicest military housing I have ever been in, it still has very cheap, poorly grouted ceramic tile. The tile is like sandpaper to my sock. I would go through about a pack of 6 socks every month. By cutting back on wearing them inside the house, I have made this last pack last over 5 months! At $16 a pack, that is $160/yr I am saving.
What is a small change you have made to save a little bit of money?
Thursday Thinking #9
What were you doing immediately before you read this?
The last thing I did before sitting down to write this was play some Lego Star Wars with Chicky.
Sick of Summer.
Remember how when you were a kid, summer seemed to fly by. It was gone almost before you even realized it was here. How come now that I am the grown up, it feels like it has been summer forever? Add in the fact that we have not really had summer here in PNW yet, and it equals a cranky mommy. It seems very unmommylike to admit this but….
I can not wait for school to start back up!
All I keep thinking about is everything I’m going to be able to do once school starts again.
Watch soaps? Nope.
Eat Bon-Bons? Nope.
Sleep in late? Nope
Party? Nope.
I will be able to clean my house.
Really, really clean my house. My heart starts going all a-flutter at the thought of it. Sparkling bathrooms, shiny kitchen floors, perfectly straight vacuum lines in the living room. (At tleast until the kids get home from school.)
Are you looking forward to school starting? Or are you in the “not wanting summer to end” camp? What is the one thing you are looking forward to doing that you can’t do with the kids underfoot?
Click Protein Drink Review and Giveaway
***********WINNER************
A review for a protein drink on a special needs blog?
MommyRambles, have you finally lost your mind? Do you need more coffee to help you think clearly?
YES.
There are some days (weeks?) during which Faith is, ummm, needier, than others. During those days (weeks?) my eating suffers. I don’t have much time or energy to eat a balanced meal. I find myself drinking lots and lots of coffee. Sugary, cream filled coffee.
Wheeeeeeeeee! *Twitch twitch*
Wouldn’t it be awesome if I could take care of some of my protein needs while getting my much needed caffeine buzz? It was this line of thinking that led me to protein shakes. Thinking I had just solved the greatest mystery of all time, I skipped on down to my local GNC and bought an expensive jug’o’powder, sashayed on home with my prize, made up my happy shake, then spit it out. That stuff tasted like monkey butt.
(Disclaimer: I do not actually know what monkey butt tastes like, but it has to be somewhat similar)
I wasn’t quite ready to give up on my idea of fulfilling my protein/caffeine needs in one shot just yet. I took to my trusty interwebz and began reading reviews. It seems that monkey butt is the most common flavor of protein shakes. Bleck. However, I noticed one protein powder getting pretty good reviews. Heck, some of the reviews were straight out raves!
So I ordered Click Espresso Protein Drink. I tried Vanilla Latte.
Oh emm gee.
Click, mixed straight up with water, was hands down the best tasting protein I have ever tried! And it had just enough caffeine in it to help me get through my long days without a huge sugar crash.
“The innovative idea of combining espresso coffee (nature’s own original energy source) with protein and nutrients into a gourmet tasting healthy energy drink just CLICKed one day says fitness experts and founders Greg and Beth Smith. CLICK provides the energy support we all crave with without all the high calorie sugar and fat! Perfect for weight management, a mid day pick me up, or to supplement a work out; CLICK boosts your energy, curbs your appetite, and burns fat so you can perform! CLICK delivers the health you want, heightened with a rich and delicious taste ‚Äď so good you‚Äôll forget that it‚Äôs also good FOR you!”
Vanilla Latte Click has become a morning staple. It was exactly what I was looking for, a perfect mix of coffee, vanilla and protein. Even if you think that protein shakes are not for you, try this one. Hot, cold, blended or even made into ice cream. It is smooth and rich and about as anti-monkey butt tasting as you can get! Want to try some yourself? Of course you do! Mommy Rambles would like to offer one lucky winner a 14 serving size canister of their very own to get Click’n!
