Hello.
My name is Allison and I have nomophobia.
No it’s not contagious but…..
………chances are you have it also.
Nomophobia: The fear of being out of mobile phone contact. The phrase was coined by a U.K. study commissioned by SecurEnvoy as an abbreviation for no-mobile-phone phobia, and it found that two-thirds of mobile phone users get anxious when losing their phone, running out of battery power or finding themselves in a location without network coverage. The study also showed that younger people (18 to 34) are more likely to be nomophobic, and the level of nomophobia has increased from 50 percent to 66 percent in the last four years. It also found the average case of nomophobia causes stress levels similar to those of suffering anxiety related to “wedding day jitters” or going to the dentist.
Right this very minute my cell phone is sitting in my lap. And if the cat happens to jump in my lap and knock it down to the floor…I will pick it up. Right away. Even though it is 2 feet away. Because I am not touching it.
My precious…..
Why?
I have no idea. Heck, in the last 48 hours my phone has rung once. One time.
But I neeeeeeed it. My precious.
Someone might call me. Or text me. Or email me. Or tweet me. And what if I miss it?
My phone and my coffee are the only addictions I have left.
I don’t smoke. I don’t drink.
See the cold sweat on my forehead?
I might miss an important Facebook status. Like that Jane had an egg for breakfast. And Joe is stopping for gas.
What if I miss it????
I sleep with my phone less than 18 inches away. I tuck it in the waistband of my yoga pants when I am pretending to clean the house. It’s in my back pocket when I shop. It’s with me when I step in to powder my nose.
Because what if I miss something????
Do you have nomophobia?

Guilty! I’ve always been attached to my phone but it has gotten progressively worse. Sunday I left it at home when I went to church and I almos had a panic attach when I realized it wasn in my purse, even tho I always turn it off at church so I wasn’t missing anything!
Absolutely! And my phone doesn’t even let me on the interwebs or anything fun like that!
I have a GREAT android app on my daughter’s smartphone. It is called PARENTAL TIME CONTROL. I select the times of day and days of the week her phone is available for her to use. There are NO monthly fees. Here is the direct link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phone.lock&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5waG9uZS5sb2NrIl0.

It makes me a better parent!
